Since 1992, the Good Shepherd Social Welfare Foundation has operated Taiwan’s first publicly funded, privately managed shelter for women and children escaping violence. For more than three decades, we have remained dedicated to safeguarding women and have helped tens of thousands of families rebuild their lives. Yet we know the people we’ve reached are only a fraction of those in need; many survivors still wait in silence for assistance.
Misconceptions often keep people away. Some worry about overly strict rules, fear they cannot stay with their children, or assume that entering a shelter inevitably means divorce or permanent separation from family. These myths discourage survivors from seeking help.
Good Shepherd believes that transparent information and convenient access are the first steps toward change. Through our CHOICE information website for women’s and children’s shelters, we provide fast, clear, and practical details about available services, making it easier for anyone who needs support to reach out.
